Located in south of Anhui province, Yellow Mountain covers an area of 1,200 sq. km. It is featured by the four unique wonders inclusive of the Odd-shaped pines, Spectacular rocks, Cloud seas and Imposing peaks. The main peak, Lotus Peak, together with Brightness Peak and Tian Du Peak lies in the central part of Huangshan Scenic Area and makes this land spectacular and rhythmical. It is regarded as the ¡°loveliest mountain¡± in China. In 1990, Mt. Huangshan was inscribed as the World Natural and Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
Yellow Mountain was originally called Mt. Yishan. It was said that the Emperor Huangdi had ever came to the mountain with his fellows to train the immortal ability and finally succeeded. About 7,000 years ago, the ancestors had lived here. In Song dynasty (960 A.D.-1279 A.D.), it was named Huizhou. Since then, it had prospered both in the economy and culture.
Yellow Mountain now is one of the most famous scenic spot in China. With the fascinating mountain views, well-preserved ancient village and natural hot spring, Mt. Huangshan is well-known both at home and abroad and attracts over millions visitors every year. |
