The Slim West Lake
The Slender West Lake is a national key scenic spot and a national 4A tourist zone. Since the reign of Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing dynasty, it has become the landscape garden upon the lake, as described in the Chinese poem “The willows and flowers on the embankment mirrored in the water, while the pavilions led the whole way to the distant mountains.” The garden incorporates the beauty of South with the magnificence of North, and therefore gains world fame for its uniqueness. The slim and winding lake strings many scenic spots with its clean water, including “Cave of grotesque rockeries”, “Winding water in the West Garden”, “Spring willows on the long dyke”, “Misty rain on the four bridges”, “Xu Garden”, “Little Golden Mountain”, “Fishing terrace”, “Five-pavilion Bridge”, “Fu Village”, “The White Pagoda”, as well as the Twenty-four Bridges Scenic Spot, and the scenic spot of Running Water Flowing from Stone Cliffs. The whole scenery is just like a long landscape painting that has been gradually unfolded in front of your eyes. |
