Langshan Hill

 

 

Langshan hill is one of the well-known tourist attractions in Nantong. The hill was named wolf as there were once group of wolves living in the hill, but others believed the name was from its wolf-like shape.
Langshan Hill is located in the southern suburb of Nantong and 5 km far from the downtown centre of the city. Extending more than four kilometers, Langshan Hill stands along the Yangtze River bank, accompanied by Junshan hill and Jianshan hill- in its east, and Ma"an hill and Huangni hill in its west.
 
With the hills and the surrounding natural reserved and historic relics, it makes one of the most attractive tourist region in Nantong. On the top of Langshan Hill, you will gain a grand view of the river course of Yangtze River and the vast surrounding green land. The renowned Guangjiao Temple, a Buddhist shrine built in the Tang Dynasty, consists of diverse facilities and historic relics. These sites includes many pillars and stones engraved with poems, pictures and characters left by emperors, famous Buddhists, poets, politicians, and writers.
 
In addition, the natural beauty of the hills and their surrounding scenic zone and green land are under the protection of the local communities and government. The Langshan Hill has been listed as one of the national AAAA Scenic Areas which is the site you must not miss in Nantong.
