Gu Yi Yuan Garden
Built in Jiajing Reign of Ming dynasty, it was exquisitely designed by a famous bamboo sculptor in Ming dynasty. It features the flourished bamboo and bamboo carvings on the traditional pavilions, towers, chambers, pillars and corridors. The garden extended its area in Qing dynasty (1746 A.D.). After several extension, it covers an area of 9.7 hectares now. Based on the different views, it is divided into 6 parts which represents the distinguished artistic conceptions respectively. In the garden, the well-preserved pagoda of Song dynasty, tranquil waters, elegant architectures of Ming dynasty, excellent poems hung on the columns of hall and stone flagging paths make the garden a hot spot for visitors. |
