Temple of Six Baiyan Tree

Liurong Temple (Six Banyan Temple) is situated on the Liurong Road. It is a famous Buddhist cultural site. There is a story about the name of the temple. When Sushi, a great writer in Song Dynasty, arrived at the temple one day, a monk asked him for the name of the building. Sushi found that there were six banyan trees in the garden, then he wrote the name “Liurong“ down. The temple enshrines three large Buddhist statues —the biggest copper Buddhist statues existing in Guangdong Province. Because of the colorful exterior carvings, it is popularly known as the Flower Pagoda.

The Liurong Temple is a historic and world-famous attraction. It was named the top ten tourist attractions of Guangzhou in 1997.
