Mountain Mao
Locating in the southeastern part of Gou Rong city, Jiangsu province, the Taoism made it a famous religious mountain for visitors. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Jingdi of the Han dynasty (206BC-220 AD), there are three brothers named Mao Ying, Mao Gu and Mao Zhong. They trained themselves at this place and cured diseases for local people and finally they obtained the Tao and attained immortality after that. The later generations renamed the mountain as Three Mao Brothers Mountain in honor of them. Today, people also call it Mao Mountain.
The most famous temple on Mt. Mao is Tian Ning Temple. It is located at the top of Damao Peak, which is the highest site of Mao Mountain. The whole temple was built against the mountain. It is said that people who respect the Taoism can bring back good luck and happiness.
