Nanyuan Park

 

 

Nanyuan garden was the originally plum-watching and chrysanthemum-growing site of Wang Xifu in Wanli Period, Ming dynasty, formerly covers 18 mu. A painter Wang Shimin enlarged the garden at the beginning of Qing dynasty and invited the gardening master Zhang Nanyuan directed the construction, making Nanyuan garden a historic famous garden that combing gardening and painting as a whole, was the head of Wuyi Gardens from Qing dynasty, was destroyed by a fire later.
 
The precious old buildings were moved to Nanyuan garden when the old city was reconstructed and Nanyuan Park was reconstructed with the support of municipal government according to the original photos and drawings and gate tower, Xiuxue Hall, Xiangtao Pavilion and the other original sites were renewed.
 
Nanyuan garden is wide now and the water scenery covers one third of the whole park. Small bridges, flowing water, pavilions, flowers, ancient trees and bamboo form an elegant natural landscape picture.
