Qiandao Lake, lies on the upper section of the Xin¡¯an River. It is a man-made scenic spot formed by the Xin¡¯an River Hydropower Station in 1959 which consists of thousand islands in different sizes.
The lake is 160 km long and 10km wide, covering an area of 570 sq. km. It has a capacity of 17.84 billion cubic meters, 3,184 times of the West Lake. The water temperature varies between 10 degrees and 30 degrees Celsius. Inside the lake, there are more than 80 kinds of fish with a yearly average output of 900,000 tons.
Qiandao Lake also has a famous National Forest Park. Its flourished forests purify the air and the water which make the water quality of Thousand Islands the top one in China. There are more than 1,820 plants including 20 precious plants which are under the national level protection. Well-preserved and large scale of broad leaves trees, hundreds hectare of farmland make the land a huge natural park.
Besides, the hundreds of islands with different themes made this land a fairyland on earth. Thousand Islands Lake is an ideal destination where you can calm down, relax and enjoy. |
